What is your role at Maui Recovery? What does that look like day to day?
As the Client Wellness Associate, my role involves daily interaction with patients to ensure their medical and personal needs are effectively addressed. I facilitate connections between clients and medical providers, manage appointment scheduling, and oversee medication management. In addition, I collaborate closely with our administrative team to maintain a comprehensive understanding of both facility operations and patient care.
On a typical day, I engage with clients to review their medical needs and program activities, coordinate with medical staff for appointment scheduling and prescription management, lead group therapy sessions, and handle various administrative tasks essential to the smooth operation of our facility. It is both a privilege and a responsibility to work closely with clients and their healthcare providers, as I am committed to supporting them on their path to recovery and stability.
2. What is your educational and professional background?
I have a Bachelors of Science in Biology and Secondary Education from Grove City College, as well as an Associate’s degree in Computer Information Technology from Allegheny Community College. I am currently enrolled in Hawai’i’s Certified Peer Specialist Program, which will further my ability to support and guide individuals on their journey to recovery.
3. Why do you love working at Maui Recovery?
Working at Maui Recovery is rewarding because it allows me to support individuals as they embark on their journey toward a healthier and more fulfilling life. The opportunity to help patients rediscover their strength and hope is truly gratifying.
I am also inspired by our program’s unique approach which integrates the natural beauty of Maui with therapeutic practices. The incorporation of outdoor activities not only promotes physical well-being but also fosters mental and emotional growth. By engaging in these enriching, substance-free experiences, our patients learn to embrace a joyful and balanced lifestyle, reinforcing their path to recovery and their personal resilience.
4. What are you most passionate about professionally? Personally?
Professionally, I am passionate about promoting and aiding my clients’ transformative journeys. Witnessing individuals embrace change and growth as they embark on a new beginning is incredibly fulfilling. I believe that the catalyst for change must come from within, and I find great satisfaction in facilitating and observing this process.
Personally, I still have a deep love for biology and enjoy exploring the diverse microclimates and biomes across the island. My connection to the ʻāina of Maui is a major source of inspiration and joy. I also find creative fulfillment through perfumery, and have recently launched Meráki Parfums, a brand that celebrates my love of Maui and my Greek heritage.
